![]() ![]() See, you don’t get to jump immediately in to a big religion with all of the benefits of a fleshed out ecclesiastical system. You exchange your first 10 faith points to found your pantheon, or your initial beliefs. When it comes to religion, you usually start accumulating what they call “faith” points after you build your first city and (if you’re like me), construct a temple. You settle cities, research technology along a tech tree, build your military, exploit resources that you gain from different tiles on the board, etc. It takes you from 4000 BCE until 2050 CE. And not the preachy stuff that comes knocking on your door – no, we’re going to discuss how a religion is formed and what implications it has on culture and on character behavior and values. So today we’re going to talk about religion. I’d write the book on the subject, but I’m afraid Civilization V has already done so! I hope you’ll be excited at the end of this post for today’s “recommended reading”, because it’s not so much reading as it is “Go play a bit of Civ”.
